In New Delhi, India, a case of gang rape and murder has gained international attention.
This month, a pack of men savagely beat and sexually assaulted a 23-year-old woman on a public bus at night.
She later died of her injuries. Her attackers are in police custody facing charges of murder and rape.
The incident sparked days of protests with Indians calling for reforms in a society that often tolerates violence against women.
K.P. Yohannon, president of the ministry Gospel for Asia addressed the plight of women in India and how the message of Jesus Christ is giving them hope.
Dr. Yohannon also praised India's government for its response to the protests.
"I am grateful for how the Prime Minister and Sonia Gandhi, along with government agencies are responding to this outcry," he said. "Positive steps are being taken."
